Wanting to answer, but - there was still some evasion, there. Without outright lying. "A few nights in a nice hotel, good food and some decent music. A couple of clubs. Just blowing off some steam and taking a break."
He didn't quite understand the shadow, though he noted it, in passing. It was too fast for him to even be completely sure that it was there. Just a minor sort of... dissonance.
